Chatham-Kent municipal leaders are getting lessons on financial stability and fiscal responsibility at this week’s  Association of Municipalities Ontario Conference in Windsor.  civic centre chatham

Wallaceburg Councillor Carmen McGregor says the first few days of the conference were more educational, focusing on topics related to running a municipality.

McGregor and fellow Ward 5 representative Jeff Wesley have also spoken to the Association of Medical Officers about the Sydenham Hospital issue.

“We were able to explain to them exactly what has happened within our community and how we’ve been able to talk to medical doctors but not really been able to get them to come forward because they don’t want to put their name on it,” McGregor says. “So that’s where the Medical Association comes in because they can actually speak on behalf of local medical doctors.”

McGregor will be meeting with the Minister of Energy today about natural gas and the rising cost of electricity in rural Ontario.
