There’s going to be a change in hands when it comes to municipal animal control in Wards 2 and 6.
Long held by the Ontario SPCA, the contract will be up for debate at tonight’s council meeting.
Municipal administration is recommending the contract be given to local organization Pet and Wildlife Rescue.
Only Pet and Wildlife Rescue and the Sarnia Humane Society submitted bids during the tender process.
The municipality’s agreement with the Ontario SPCA expires on November 11th.
Moving forward, the SPCA will have a smaller presence in Chatham-Kent, enforcing the province’s animal cruelty laws.
