Annual Addictions Conference To Address Antagonistic Personalities

An upcoming conference will aim to better equip clinicians and the community to assist those struggling with addictions in the Chatham-Kent.

The annual Chatham-Kent Addictions Awareness Conference will take place on Thursday at the Everest Convention Centre in Chatham.

The conference is being held ahead of National Addictions Awareness Week on November 22-28 and will feature a presentation by Dr. Ramani Durvasula, a licensed clinical psychologist from Los Angeles, California.

Dr. Durvasula will discuss how to account for antagonistic personality styles when working with individuals experiencing addiction and how antagonist personality styles and addiction can impact close relationships and family. She will also share her knowledge on how to prevent clinician burnout.

The annual conference is spearheaded by the Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres, the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Mental Health & Addictions Program, the Canadian Mental Health Association Lambton-Kent Branch, the Westover Treatment Centre and Restorative Justice Chatham-Kent.

All are welcome to attend the conference which runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
