A 72-year-old retiree is the second big winner from Chatham to take home $100,000 in recent lottery draws.

Daniel Young matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in the exact order in the August 27 Lotto 6/49 draw to win.

Young, a father of three and grandfather of four, said he plays Lotto 6/49 weekly and uses significant family birthdays to choose his numbers.

“I checked my ticket early one morning and saw Big Winner appear. I was shocked,” he said in a news release. “I told my family and kept reading the numbers out loud.”

Young said he plans to use his windfall to buy a new trailer and pay some bills.

“My wife is thinking about retirement as well,” he said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Lacroix Variety on Lacroix Street in Chatham.

Robert Brown of Chatham also recently won $100,000 in the August 5 Lotto Max draw.
