Another COVID Outbreak in Chatham-Kent

Over four dozen new high risk COVID cases have surfaced in Chatham-Kent.

The latest update from CK Public Health includes 57 new confirmed cases, a number health officials say is an underestimate given the limits on PCR testing. Overall, the seven-day average is now up to 22 new cases a day.

A COVID outbreak has been declared at the Oaks Retirement Village in Wallaceburg with 18 cases. Public Health continues to keep tabs on an ongoing outbreak at Blenheim Community Village and the medicine unit at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

There are now 13 COVID patients at the Health Alliance, six of whom are being treated primarily for the virus, and one in the hospital’s progressive care unit.

Across Ontario, 1074 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, including 168 in intensive care.
