Another COVID-Related Death at CKHA

Chatham-Kent has marked its 16th death linked to COVID-19.

Public Health says a man in his 70s succumbed to the virus at the Health Alliance over the weekend. Although the man was in hospital, officials stress the case was not linked to the recent outbreak in the medicine unit.

CKHA officials say there are six COVID patients still being treated, including one in the ICU on a ventilator.

Overall hospital occupancy has dropped, with just five of the 10 ICU beds in use. The medical, surgical, and critical care units are 84.1% full.

The total number of active cases of the COVID-19 has risen to 18 with four new cases reported over the weekend and two resolutions.

Some good news across the province as the Ministry of Health is reporting 525 new cases today, the lowest daily increase since last September.
