Another COVID Uptick in CK

Another increase in COVID cases in Chatham-Kent.

This week’s update from CK Public Health includes 102 confirmed cases, with a seven-day average of 15 new high-risk cases a day.

Chatham-Kent’s positivity rate is up to 19.8%, compared to 17.4% a week ago, and the highest it’s been since April. The provincial rate has risen to 17%.

Public Health staff are keeping tabs on four outbreaks across the municipality, including a group home, St Andrew’s Residence and Copper Terrace in Chatham, and the Oaks Retirement Village in Wallaceburg.

Since March 2020, there have been 10,201 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Chatham-Kent, a number public health maintains is an underestimate given limits on PCR testing. 88 local residents have lost their lives to the virus.
