Another Chatham-Kent resident has lost their life to COVID-19.
Officials with Public Health say a man in his 60s passed away at a hospital outside of Chatham-Kent.
That brings to 35 the number of local residents who have succumbed to the virus since the pandemic began.
There are currently 20 Chatham-Kent residents being treated for COVID-19 at the Health Alliance.
Of note, Public Health is now only reporting patients who are admitted to hospital to be treated for COVID-19, rather than those admitted for other reasons and later test positive. Statistics from CKHA include patients admitted for COVID and patients with COVID.
CKHA is reporting 31 COVID patients, 4 of whom are on ventilators in the ICU.
Occupancy of the ICU sits at 70%, PCU beds are 83.3% filled, and the hospital’s medical, surgical, and critical care beds are 94.2% full.
65 CKHA staff are off work, 75 are isolating at work, and 1 is working from home.
Overall, Public Health is reporting 215 new cases since the last update on Friday, with a seven-day rolling average case count of 67.
There are 13 active outbreaks across Chatham-Kent, five involving group homes, seven long ter care or retirement homes, and the dialysis unit at CKHA.
