Police have charged another three drivers for excessive speeding on provincial highways in Chatham-Kent.
The Ontario Provincial Police said on Tuesday at around 12:40 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle on Communication Road that was travelling south at 144 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
On Saturday at around 1:56 p.m., police stopped another vehicle travelling west on Highway 401 within the municipality. Authorities said the vehicle was travelling 58 km/h over the posted 100 km/h limit.
And on Sunday, a third vehicle was stopped in the eastbound lanes of the 401 at around 11:55 a.m., after it was clocked travelling at 171 km/h.
As a result, a 21-year-old from Chatham, a 29-year-old from Brampton, and a 31-year-old from Windsor have all been charged with stunt driving. The driver from Windsor is facing two additional counts of driving while under suspension.
The three have also been issued a 30-day driver’s license suspension and their vehicles will be impounded for 14 days.
Two other drivers are facing the same charges following speeding incidents that took place the week prior.
