Another Uptick in CK COVID Numbers

Another jump in the number of COVID-19 cases in Chatham-Kent.

After a slight decline last week, the number of new cases reported between August 28th and September 3rd is up to 76, however officials with CK Public Health stress the confirmed case data is an underestimate of the true number of infections due to limits on PCR testing. The seven-day average has risen to 11 new cases surfacing each day.

Chatham-Kent’s positivity rate is up to 12.3%, compared to 10.9% a week ago. The provincial rate sits at 11.7%.

Two new outbreaks have been declared, with seven cases of the virus in the Medicine 1 unit at the Health Alliance since September 1st, and three cases at a group home.

A COVID outbreak is also under surveillance at Riverview Gardens, however being declared on September 4th it does not appear on this week’s Public Health report.
