Chatham-Kent is looking for local residents and business owners who would like their voices heard on the municipality’s response to homeless encampments.
Applications are now open for the newly created Encampment Advisory Committee, which will be tasked with ensuring transparent communication between the municipality and the community at large with respect to the Chatham encampment on Grand Avenue East.
The group will aim to balance encampment impact on the residential community with the needs of the unhoused.
The committee will be comprised two people who live near the encampment, those from the Northside Neighbours Association and anyone who has previously lived near a shelter or large encampment; two business owners and/or operators; and two people from community groups and those with lived expertise.
Applicants are asked to highlight relevant experience and qualifications. The deadline for applications is November 28 at 4:30 p.m.
The application form is available at any CK municipal centre or information desk. It can also be found online by clicking here.
