Applications Open For Spring Grants

Applications are now being accepted for the spring round of grants through the Chatham-Kent Community Foundation and South Kent Wind Community Fund.

Over $500,000 in grants are available for registered charities in the municipality with a deadline for applications set for March 31.

Funding is available in several streams, including donor designated, donor advised, and transitional.

The Foundation supports charitable organizations concerned with education, health, arts and culture, recreation, and social services benefiting the citizens of Chatham-Kent. Officials say organizations seeking funds will need to demonstrate a strong, committed Board, fiscal responsibility and management qualifications.

The Chatham Kent Community Foundation is a broad-based, volunteer-driven, philanthropic organization creating, preserving and growing perpetual funds to help donors to have an everlasting impact on the development of the community through grants to registered charitable organizations.

The South Kent Wind Community Fund is a donor-advised fund within the Chatham Kent Community Foundation that was created by South Kent Wind LP, a wind power facility owned by Pattern Energy Group and Samsung Renewable Energy, together with the Chatham Kent Community Foundation. The Fund began with an initial donation of $1 million in the spring of 2013, and South Kent Wind LP has committed to contributing another $10 million to that Fund over 20 years.
