Appointments Needed for COVID-19 Tests

If you’re looking to get a COVID-19 test, you’ll need to have an appointment.

Effective Tuesday, the province will no longer allow walk-ins at any assessment centres – all tests must be booked in advance.

It’s part of the new restrictions announced late last week in an effort to reduce wait-times and line-ups.

The Chatham-Kent assessment centre is moving today. The new location at the St Clair College Healthplex will have a mobile testing clinic set up in the parking lot at Thames Campus today while the move is taking place.

Meantime, the number of new cases of COVID-19 across Ontario dipped slightly over the weekend.

The latest figures show 566 new cases of the coronavirus, down from 653 on Saturday, and seven more deaths on Sunday.

The biggest number is the number of unprocessed tests at 79,000, slightly better than the 91,000 reported earlier in the weekend.

The three main hot spots remain Toronto, Peel Region, and Ottawa.
