Trespassing and harassment charges have been laid following a break-and-enter at a Chatham home.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to the break-and-enter at an unspecified location in Chatham at around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Authorities said the homeowner had been having ongoing issues with an individual who had entered his home without permission. The same man had also attempted to break into the home on June 28, leading to a physical altercation.
After reviewing surveillance footage, officers were able to identify a suspect.
Shortly after 6 p.m. the same day, the suspect turned himself in at police headquarters. He is now charged with criminal harassment, unlawfully being in a dwelling, and trespassing at night.
He was later released from custody and will answer the charges in court next month.
