A murder charge has been laid after a man was found dead in a Tilbury home, one week after he was reported missing.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said 32-year-old Ken Baylis of Tilbury has been arrested in connection with the death of 45-year-old Daniel Marchand.

Marchand was last seen on April 15 and was reported missing four days later.

The Tilbury man’s body was discovered on April 26 in a residence on Dufferin Avenue in Tilbury. Following an autopsy, Marchand’s death was ruled a homicide.

Authorities said this was an isolated incident and there was no reason to believe the public was at risk.

Baylis is now charged with second-degree murder. He has since been remanded into custody following a court appearance.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Cole Abbott at COLEA@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600 ext. 262. Thos who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
