A Chatham man is accused of using stolen bank cards to go on a shopping spree.

Chatham-Kent Police say the investigation began August 15th following a robbery at a home on Peter Street in Chatham, during which masked suspects stole a large amount of money and the victim’s wallet.

Almost two weeks later, the victim’s debit card was used at several stores around Chatham to make purchases. Authorities were able to identify the suspect using surveillance footage and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

This past Wednesday, the man was found and arrested.

The 45-year-old is now charged with five counts of unauthorized use of a credit card and five counts of possessing stolen property. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
