Arrest Made Following Bentpath Line Chase

A police chase in Dawn-Euphemia has led to multiple charges.

Shortly after 1 o’clock Tuesday morning, Lambton OPP officers tried to pull over a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Bentpath Line. However, authorities say the driver struck the police cruiser, causing significant damage, and fled the scene.

The accused was eventually stopped and the driver, a 33-year-old of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with numerous offences, including flight from a peace officer, dangerous driving, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, among other charges.

The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Authorities say no one was hurt during the incident. Bentpath Line was closed for several hours as the investigation was carried out.
