Arrest Made After Knife Pulled At Chatham Store

A local man is facing several charges after allegedly pulling a knife at a Chatham business.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to investigate a weapons complaint at a retail business on St. Clair Street near McNaughton Avenue at around 7:20 p.m. on Thursday.

Authorities said a man who had previously been asked to leave the business returned and was confronted by an employee. The man then allegedly pulled a knife and pointed it in a threatening manner at two employees.

The man left the store before police arrived but was located and arrested nearby.

A 37-year-old Chatham-Kent man is now charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, two counts of assault, and two counts of assault with a weapon.

He was taken to police headquarters and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
