
A Tilbury man has been arrested after allegedly choking a woman as she slept.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a disturbance at a Tilbury residence on Tuesday shortly after 3:30 a.m., following an assault.
Authorities said a woman was attempting to sleep when a man entered her room and choked her. She also sustained a minor injury from a lit cigarette.
When officers arrived, the man was located on the front lawn, while the woman remained inside the home.
Following an investigation, a 63-year-old Tilbury man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm. Police also learned that he was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Essex OPP for unspecified charges.
He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
