Assault Charges Laid Following Domestic Violence Investigation

Multiple charges have been laid after a woman was assaulted several times by her partner.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a report of an assault between two people at an address in Tilbury on Tuesday at around 9 a.m.

Following an investigation, police learned that the victim had been struck multiple times, which restricted her breathing. Authorities also discovered that the woman had been injured during a prior assault in August, resulting in the victim needing medical attention.

As a result, a 39-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and is now charged with three counts of assault causing bodily harm, five counts of assault, and one count of uttering threats to cause death.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
