Charges have been laid after two people were assaulted, one of which was a police officer.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a disturbance at a Grand Avenue East business in Chatham at around 1 a.m. on Saturday.
An intoxicated man had become agitated with staff who were trying to get him to leave. At one point, the man assaulted a staff member before fleeing the scene.
Police located and arrested a suspect nearby. He was taken to police headquarters where he also assaulted a police officer and caused damage to a holding cell.
As a result, the accused is now charged with assault, assaulting a peace officer, and mischief under $5,000. He was later released from custody with a June court date.
