
A local man is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a Tilbury business owner in an unprovoked attack.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a man who had previously trespassed at a retail business on Queen Street returned shortly before 9 p.m. on Tuesday and attacked the owner.
The victim suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention.
Officers were able to locate a suspect nearby and take him into custody. After being transported to police headquarters, the man became irate and also spit on a special constable.
A 34-year-old Chatham-Kent man is now charged with assault and assaulting a peace officer. He was held for a bail hearing.
