
A local man accused of assaulting two other men on Christmas Day has been arrested again for allegedly skipping his court date.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers on patrol spotted a man walking along train tracks in the area of Keil Drive in Chatham at around 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
Authorities said the man ran off when he noticed the officers and attempted to hide in a nearby bush. However, he was quickly discovered and arrested.
The suspect was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in connection to an assault investigation. According to police, the man was arrested on December 25, 2024 after two other men were assaulted but not injured. No further details about the incident have been released.
The 34-year-old Chatham-Kent man is now charged with two counts of assault and multiple counts of failing to attend court. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
