As the water from the weekend floods along the Lake Erie shoreline subside, Chatham-Kent-Essex MPP Rick Nicholls has been working at getting some provincial help.
Nicholls says the clean-up is underway, and he’s keeping up to date with officials across the riding, including Leamington Mayor John Patterson.
The water level was so high that fishing boats that were docked at the Wheatley Harbour were actually above the docks.”
Nicholls says he’s met with Minister of Municipal Affairs Bill Mauro and says he’s hopeful the government will help in some capacity.
“The next process will be for him and/or his Ministry to go out and review the damage along the Lake Erie shoreline, stretching anywhere from roughly Rondeau/Erieau all the way to Point Pelee.”
Nicholls says the devastation throughout the riding was beyond expectations.
