Two local men are facing charges following a break-and-enter attempt in downtown Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were contacted about a break-and-enter incident on King Street West at around 12:30 a.m. on Monday, after two men attempted to force open several doors to a building.
The men were interrupted by the person who contacted police, leading the men to flee the scene.
Officers used surveillance footage of the area to identify a pair of suspects who were later located on King Street West.
A 28-year-old Chatham-Kent man and a 37-year-old Harwich Township man have both been charged with possession of break-in tools. The 28-year-old is additionally charged with mischief causing property damage.
The two accused were later released from custody with a future court date.
