Chatham-Kent police are investigating an attempted murder.
Early Saturday morning, officers were called out to a hit and run accident on Harvey Street in Chatham.
During the investigation, officers learned the driver and pedestrian knew each other, and evidence lead investigators to believe it was a deliberate act.
The driver has been arrested and charged with attempted murder.
The victim was transported to a hospital in Windsor and remains in serious but stable condition.
