A local organization is helping to support students across Chatham-Kent.
The Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres has launched an online charity auction in support of two youth programs: Persevere and Fresh for Youth.
Persevere is an 8-week in school program that teaches resiliency to students, focusing on feelings, coping, social support networks, and problem solving. In the 2023/24 school year, the Community Health Centres partnered with the Lambton Kent District School Board and Bkejwnanong Kinomaagewgamig, delivering the program to 25 classrooms in 12 schools and reached 551 students.
Fresh for Youth is an interactive learning series, led by a Registered Dietitian, teaching basic cooking skills such as measuring, chopping, calculating portion sizes and using kitchen equipment. Since August 2023, the CK-CHC has carried out 11 youth cooking classes with 105 youth participants. In 2024, the organization partnered with Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue and provided cooking classes at five different fire stations across Chatham-Kent.
The auction will run until November 23, 2024 at 9pm.
