Audette’s Lawyer Requesting Suspended Sentence

The body of Nick Laprise was found in a Book Street home on April 18, 2018.

The case against a Wallaceburg woman accused of killing a Dover Township man will return to court next week for final sentencing submissions.

The accused was arrested in April, 2018 after stabbing 24-year-old Nick Laprise to death in her Book Street home, eventually pleading guilty to manslaughter this past August.

Defence lawyer Laura Joy is asking for a suspended sentence and three years’ probation, given the three years and six months she’s already spent behind bars.

Laprise’s mother entered a victim impact statement, saying the loss of her son took everything from her, and their family will never be the same.

The Crown will make its own sentencing submissions on November 19th.
