AUDIO: U2 Fans Discover Band’s Oldest Recordings

The earliest-known live recording of U2 has been unearthed.  The show took place on August 11th, 1979, at a place called the Dandelion Market in Dublin.  Up to that point, U2 had never released any music or played outside Ireland.

But it was right around the time they recorded their debut EP, “Three”.

The show was recorded by the opening band’s guitarist, and he says, quote, “I am pleased that I recorded the show, and hadn’t realized the significance of it and its place in history until quite recently.”

It’s not clear if the show will ever be released, but it’s pretty low quality.  You can hear clips of two of the songs:  “In Your Hand”and “Concentration Cramp”.
