Battling Homelessness in CK

Chatham-Kent is tackling homelessness head on.

Chantal Perry, the Program Manager for Employment and Social Services says a recent study of homeless individuals in Chatham-Kent has been eye-opening.

“The average age of respondents was 38 years old, 54% were male and 32% were female,” Perry explains. “Also shocking are some of statistics around who is homeless in Chatham-Kent, 24% of respondents were Indigenous or stated they had Ingenious ancestry, 23% were youth, 11% were LGBTQ, and 3% had military service.”

Perry says now that they have data from the 74 homeless individuals they surveyed, they can provide specific services tailored to each of their needs.
