Beefing Up School Technology

After a year of on and off virtual learning, the local English Catholic school board is beefing up its internet access.

The St Clair Catholic District School Board’s IT department has wrapped up a broadband modernization project, providing equitable access for all students and staff.

It’s a project that’s been in the works for the past four years, but the past year has shown how important access to technology is.

Nearly 3300 devices were purchased and installed at school across the district, more than 4000 Chromebook laptops lent to families along with more than 100 hotspot devices for families that don’t have internet access.

Board officials hope to have a 1-to-1 device to student and classroom teacher ratio in place for September.
