A Tilbury couple are $225,000 richer thanks to a recent lottery windfall.
Donna and Michael Jones recently won a chance to play The Big Spin Instant game at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto through a scratch ticket.
Donna said she was expecting a small prize, yet hoping for a big win.
“I was sitting in the car thinking, ‘It would be nice if it was more than $20,’” she said. “That’s when Michael came out of the store and said, ‘Get in here! I think we won big.’”
The retired couple were surrounded by cheering family when they nervously spun the wheel, winning $225,000.
“We are so grateful for this experience. We didn’t come here with a plan for the winnings, but we both have some ideas,” Donna said.
The pair plan to let the windfall sink in before deciding how to spend the money.
The winning ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart on Mill Street West in Tilbury.
