Despite a lot of work by the municipality to try and create an independent tourism focused bike use/rental service within Chatham-Kent, it appears the idea is now dead.
In a report to council, it’s noted that the municipal tourism team and a private bike rental company were working on a draft agreement to bring bike rentals to the municipality, however the company– Demon Electric/RYDE missed its fall 2022 deadline to bring forward a draft agreement. Additionally the report said the company did not make connections with local businesses for possible locations of the bikes.
Therefore discussions with the company have now ceased.
Chatham-Kent’s tourism department said a tourism-oriented bike rental project may be re-examined in the future if new information or opportunities arise.
