Bitter Cold on the Way

Drivers should give themselves plenty of time once again this morning as roads around Chatham-Kent are a mixed bag.

Side streets and residential areas are still fairly icy, the main routes range from track bare and slippery sections to clear.

Traffic spotters tell the CKXS Newsroom that Kimball Road is in good shape with traffic moving at about 80 km/hr, the 401 and Highway 40 are both moving well with bare and wet conditions.

School buses in zones 1-4 in Sarnia-Lambton are cancelled today because of the roads, but all Chatham-Kent buses in zones 5-8 are running normally.

Meantime, with yesterday’s snow storm behind us, local residents are now bracing for several days of bitterly cold weather.

The mercury will continue to fall during the day today, with temperatures in the negative double digits for the rest of the week.
