Blenheim Man Charged Following a Police Chase Last Month

A Blenheim man has been arrested in connection to a near-miss involving a police cruiser almost a month ago.

On December 14th, Chatham-Kent Police say an officer was heading south on Marlborough Street South in Blenheim and had to swerve to avoid an oncoming vehicle in the same lane.

The vehicle refused to stop, and after a brief chase, ended up crashing into a plowed field just off Chatham Street South.

Two people in the vehicle fled on foot into a wooded area.

Officers managed to catch up with the passenger, who was later released unconditionally.

A warrant was issued for the driver. Early this morning, shortly before six o’clock, the accused was found in Blenheim and arrested.

The 38-year-old is charged with the dangerous driving, flight from the police, driving while prohibited, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
