World Water is March 22nd, and with it comes a push locally to join the Blue Dot movement. The Blue Dot initiative recognizes the importance of clean water, fresh air and safe food.
Maureen Geddes with Blue Dot Chatham Kent says water has been a big concern locally.
“That is one of the most important areas our total environment is important I think,” says Geddes. “But it is of more public awareness and urgent awareness given the situation in Wallaceburg and Flint, Michigan, and algae blooms in the lakes. So that is one of the areas we focused on.”
Geddes along with the CKSS Global Voices Student Group are pushing the issue locally.
