Five generations have looked after the service between Sombra and Marine City, Michigan.
It was disrupted nearly 3 years ago when ice badly damaged the causeway.
The repairs were not covered, by insurance, or the Federal Government and too expensive.
The new owners will have to work with both governments to get customs officials back in place but the U.S. is holding firm that won’t happen.
