A South Kent councillor is using Bothwell as an example of a community that is making the most of its arena. 
With the municipality in talks to create a new sports complex in Chatham, Anthony Ceccacci is hoping to improve existing arenas, and he says Bothwell is a great example of a community stepping up.
“These places are community hubs,” Ceccacci says. “Most of the parents or most of the groups that operate within the arena, whether it be the minor hockey boards or the people who dedicate time and help out, they’re a great group in regards to developing new ideas and coming up with solutions.”
Ceccacci has asked municipal administration to look into ways to cut costs and increase arena usage to keep rural arenas open.
