Brigden Fair Postponed For Another Year

Thousands descend on the Brigden Fair each Thanksgiving weekend.

A Thanksgiving tradition since 1850, the Brigden Fair has been postponed for a second straight year.

While ‘county fairs and rural exhibitions’ are part of Step 2 of the province’s reopening plans, the Moore Agricultural Society says moving ahead with their plans could compromise months of slow and painstaking progress that’s been made in the fight against COVID-19.

“The health and well-being of every person that attends our fairgrounds over the Thanksgiving Weekend is of paramount importance to the Moore Agricultural Society,” a news release states. “With infection rates dropping and immunization rates on the rise, now is not the time for unnecessary risk taking.”

Plans are already in motion for smaller ticketed events and more will be announced as pandemic restrictions are relaxed and events can be conducted safely.

Organizers are hoping the fair will return in the fall of 2022.
