Chatham-Kent council continues budget deliberations tonight at the civic centre.

C-K Police Chief Gary Conn was before council last night, presenting the police budget and requesting an 1.76% increase to the services budget.

Council had requested a 2% cap on funding and Chief Conn thought that was quite reasonable.

“Was it a lot of work to get it to where we are now?  Yes it was. It was three drafts,” says Conn. “I went back to the police board three times before they finally approved my draft.”

The Chief was also looking for a drone, which is in the business plan, but not in the budget. Conn says they could get a drone through one of their eight reserves or a civil remedies grant.
