Careless Driving, Drug Charges Laid in Chatham

A Windsor woman is facing a slew of charges after being caught whipping through Chatham early this morning.

Chatham-Kent Police tried to stop a speeding vehicle on St Clair Street just after 4 o’clock, but say the woman behind the wheel pulled into a nearby parking lot and behind the buildings on the property.

She was quickly stopped, and officers soon discovered she’d already had her license suspended because of unpaid fines.

Police also suspected the woman had been drinking and brought her to headquarters, where she was given a warning and had her license suspended for three days.

The 56-year-old is now also facing charges including careless driving, driving under suspension, and drug possession, among other things.
