Cashing In To Support Your Kids’ Education

The municipality of Chatham-Kent is hoping to see more families save money for their kids’ post-secondary education with the Canada Learning Bond.

Currently only 31.4% of eligible students are taking advantage of the program which contributes up to $2000 towards post-secondary education.

Chatham-Kent Director of Public Health, April Rietdyk says it’s about finding a better future for the youth of Chatham-Kent.

“We’re looking to get the other 70% signed up for really what’s free money from the federal government,” Rietdyk says. “Over November, we will be running clinics in assisting families in getting their children signed up for a great opportunity to improve their educational outcomes as they get ready to embark on post-secondary education.”

Seven clinics are scheduled at local arenas to provide more information and help people start the process of applying for the Bond.
