Catholic Teachers Dress Down For A Good Cause

Dozens of deserving Catholic school students within the St Clair Catholic District School Board are cruising on two wheels thanks to a recent fundraiser.

The local chapter of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association raised more than $7,000 to purchase bicycles for students in the school system who did not own a bicycle.

The funds were raised during the association’s second annual Dress Down for Wheels event, where school staff were permitted to wear casual clothing in exchange for a monetary donation.

“I want to thank our OECTA partners for taking the lead on this initiative, and all of our employees for their tremendous support of our students through the Dress Down for Wheels event,” said Scott Johnson, director of education at the St. Clair Catholic District School Board. “It is a demonstration of the kind and caring adults who serve in our Catholic school communities right across the district.”

A total of 40 bicycles, bicycle locks and helmets were distributed to students on May 10.
