Ontario Provincial Police are urging all drivers to be aware of the surroundings, following a fatal motorcycle collision in Essex County earlier this week. OPP logo

This year, motorcycle collisions have claimed the lives of 23 drivers and 3 passengers in Ontario, compared with the 31 total fatalities from 2015.

According to Traffic and Marine Inspector Lisa Anderson, this year’s fatalities will well surpass last year’s if the trend continues.

Provincial POlice say that this year, 80% of the collisions have occurred on the weekends, with nearly half occurring in the afternoon.

Anderson also says to get in the habit of looking for motorcycles when driving.

Specifically looking for motorcycles will prevent them from becoming a surprise in your field of vision.

She also urges motorcycle drivers to ensure that they have adequate training and experience before they start riding.
