A Leamington man is facing charges following a high-speed police chase near Tilbury.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers attempted to stop a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Wheatley Road at around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. The vehicle failed to pull over, which prompted a brief pursuit by police. The officers ended the pursuit in the interest of public safety
After reviewing CCTV footage of the area, officers were able to identify a suspect who was later located and arrested at a residence in Leamington.
As a result, a 24-year-old Leamington man is now charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, stunt driving, and failing to stop at a red light. The man’s licence was also suspended, and his vehicle has been impounded.
The accused has since been released from custody and will answer the charges in court next month.
