A special celebration will be held this weekend, marking a milestone for a local museum.
This coming Sunday, the Ska-Nah-Doht Village and Museum will commemorate its 50th anniversary at the Longwoods Road Conservation Area.
The celebration, which will run from 10am to 4pm, includes drumming and songs by the Warrior Womyn Drum Group and comments from some of the museum’s founders as well as local dignitaries.
The Ska-Nah-Doht Village and Museum features a recreation Longhouse Village, Heritage Log Cabins from the three local Indigenous communities.
The museum’s displays are based upon knowledge shared by local Indigenous community members and archaeologists who continue to conduct research into the history of this area 1000 years ago.
Admission to the Longwoods Road Conservation Area will be free for the day.
