The municipality will be showcasing its cultural diversity and inclusivity as part of the second annual Chatham-Kent Welcome Week.
From September 9-18, the municipality will be shining a spotlight on immigrants and newcomers in CK with events being held throughout the week.
“Our partner organizations have planned a number of great events that will give newcomers the opportunity to meet new people in the community, including employers,” said Tristan Fehrenbach, the co-chair of the Chatham-Kent Local Immigration Partnership. “Making these kinds of connections are crucial for helping people become established.”
Some of the week’s events will include a flag raising at the Civic Centre, a networking fair, and an informal dance class.
Other communities across Canada will also be celebrating Welcome Week as a national initiative created by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and the Government of Canada.
