Diversity is being celebrated in Wallaceburg this weekend.
The Chatham-Kent Local Immigration Partnership is bringing back the Diverse City Party, which has been held in Chatham and Blenheim.
Project Coordinator Jason Stubitz says it’s all about celebrating the many cultures represented in Chatham-Kent.
“It’s a great way for us to showcase or highlight the cultural diversity that we have in Chatham-Kent,” Stubitz says. “Being designated as Canada’s first Welcoming Community a couple of years ago, it’s important that we welcome all these different cultural groups that we have in Chatham-Kent and showcase them to everyone around.”
The celebration, including cultural performances by the Portuguese Club, Cornell School of Irish Dance, Walpole Island First Nation, and the Chatham-Kent Asian Cultural Association, gets underway at the CBD Club in Wallaceburg at 1pm on Saturday.
Admission is free, and there’s a $5 charge for food sampling.
