Erieau has a lot to celebrate, marking its 100th anniversary with a special ceremony yesterday.
Organizer Jeff Vidler says the future is bright with some improvements on the horizon.
“Coming this fall, the federal government is spending over a million dollars down here to refurbish and fix our piers, our west pier,” Vidler says. “It means it’s a safe area because if those piers ain’t fixed, there is no Erieau.”
Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Rick Nicholls says there’s so much to celebrate.
“New buildings, renovations going on, this can just be a strong hub of excitement and activity,” Nicholls says. “People come from all over to enjoy the waters of Lake Erie, waters of the bay.”
The town’s accomplishments were recognized during a ceremony at the Fire Hall yesterday, from a multi-million dollar fishing industry to a rich military history, paying tribute to local veterans.
