A week-long celebration of inclusivity is underway in Chatham-Kent.
A flag raising ceremony took place at the Civic Centre Monday to mark the beginning of CK Pride Week.
Other events being held this week include CKPL Rainbow Storytime at Bill’s Place on Centre Street tonight, a barbecue at LINCK Children and Family Services at noon tomorrow, followed by a drop-in at Bill’s Place, virtual trivia at the library, and pub night at Sons of Kent on Wednesday.
The Pride Parade will make its way through downtown Chatham on Saturday, followed by Pride Fest at the corner of Harvey and Centre Streets.

Many communities celebrate during Pride Month in June, which honours the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York City. However, the first Canadian gay rights protest was held on Parliament Hill in August, 1971.
